Regular school attendance will mean that your child has a better chance in life. Your child will achieve better when they go to school all day, every school day.  Under Queensland law, you must make sure your child is enrolled and attends school all day, every school day unless they have an acceptable reason.

Acceptable reasons

  • Illness
  • Important medical / specialist appointments
  • Representative sport
  • Family emergency
  • Bereavement

Unacceptable Reasons

  • Holidays (please avoid)
  • Visiting family
  • Birthdays
  • Sleeping in

To report your child's absence please either phone the school absence line on (07) 5559 6333 (select option 1) or email admin@currumbinss.eq.edu.au

Parents will receive an SMS message if their child is absent without an explanation given. You must inform the school with the reason within 2 school days of their return.

Students absent for 11 days or longer (Exemptions)

Parents can apply for an exemption when their child cannot attend school for a period of eleven consecutive school days or longer. You are encouraged to discuss with the school whether an application for exemption is a suitable option. Decisions about exemptions are made by the Principal.

Late Arrival

Any student who arrives at school after the roll has been marked or after 9:00am

needs to go to the office for a late slip.

Early Collection

We discourage children from being collected before 2:45pm.  If you must collect your child early from school you will need to present to the office and they will call your child down for collection.
